Friday 15th April 2011

I was awake lots in the night, mummy had to get up to me at least 10 times :( one of the times she came in to me, i was crying a little bit and said 'i don't like my hand, its different' mummy asked me if it felt all prickly and i said yes, she told me i had pins and needles, i don't like pins and needles.
When we got up, i remembered that it was the day we were going to Toms family. We got ready and then got in Nana's car and drove to Witney. When we got there, we were early. We looked at the books and mummy told me that for easter, her and Tom would buy me a book instead of chocolate. i liked that idea. When Toms family turned up, we went and had breakfast. i had fried egg, beans, sausage, hash brown and toast. I buttered my toast all by myself and then cut the sausage up, i cut it in half at first and mummy and Tom thought i was going to cut it again, but i put half in my mouth and ate it hehe. Mummy and Tom were very pleased with me, i was a really good girl and ate all of my dinner up, i even got the tiny pieces that i had dropped on the table, didn't want to waste any. After breakfast, we went and done some shopping, i got more baby food and we all got easter eggs each. After getting our shopping each, we put it in the car and walked to witney town centre. we went into argos to look at helmets for me as mine is too small. There weren't any bigger ones in there so we went out of there, Tom knew where to go to find a toy shop, i liked that. In the toy shop there was bikes at the back, so went and had a look there. There was a man there and we asked him to help us. He said i needed the 'super buddy' one, so i tried one on and it fitted well. I chose the red monster one, i liked that. Tom and Mummy bought it for me. We found Toms family and then we walked around with them for a little while before it was time to go back to the car. On the way back to the car, we saw Toms grandad, he was sitting in their camper van, we waved to him. I fell asleep in the car.
At home i sat and had cuddles with the kittens and watched some tv. Still very tired.

Thursday 14th April 2011

We had a relaxing morning at home, we were supposed to be going to shotover with Ray, but the weather isn't very nice and mummy wants me to get rid of the cough i have before monday. Ray came round after he finished working at the shop and then we had a drink, then we walked to the pub. I took my scooter there. It was the same pub as the one me and mummy went to with Hayley. When we got there, the garden was empty (it was a little cold, i had 2 coats on, well a jacket and then a warmer coat) they also had toys out this time, not just the slide and swing. I tried to get in one toy, it was quite small, but i tried again, i managed to fit in in the end. It wouldnt' stear very well though. There was a digger too, so i rode that for a while, but the bucket at the front wouldn't stay up and kept getting caught in the ground, so i had to hold it up as i went forwards. I went up on to the decking where mummy, Tom and Ray were sat and liked going around the tables on there, it was easier to move. Then i bumped off the edge, landing on the grass, that was fun. Then i went to the steps and bumped off of one of them, then i saw the big slope next to it, of grass, i smiled and said can i go on that.  They all nodded yes. I took my digger up there and went really fast down the slope, that was fun, it was heavy, having to keep taking it up, but i liked it. Then i tried the car that doesn't have much space for me, that was quite fast too, i only had a couple of goes with that one and then went and found the ride on horse, that went quite slow but i liked it because i could put it under my arm and carry it. After a while i said i was bored of that, so went back to their table, with the horse. In the horses head was a silver looking thing, i thought it was a button. Tom told me it was a camera and then so did Ray. They said the telly for watching it would be in the office, i told them that there wasn't an office there, so Tom said there would be. Mummy pointed out the kitchen to me so i decided i needed to go and investigate that. I had fun at the pub and when it started getting a bit colder, it was time to go home. We walked home one way and Ray went another, as he lives in a different direction to us. i scooted all the way home, i was really good. When we got home, Nana phoned mummy and said if we want the car for tomorrow then we can pick it up from the club. I wanted to go with mummy so we got a taxi and drove there to get her car. I was asleep very quickly when i got to bed .

Wednesday 13th April 2011

Today mummy told me that we have to go to the hospital for my pre-assessment. She made a picnic up as we are going to be there all day. That is exciting, having a picnic in the hospital. I had sandwiches, cake, grapes and crisps and so did mummy. I took my scooter to the hospital with us. When we got off of the bus, mummy had to collapse it as i'm not allowed it in the hospital. We went to where i see Lucy as mummy wasn't sure where i needed to go. Once they knew, we then went there. It was called the day care ward. We stayed in the playroom until the nurse came to get us, i liked the playroom, i played with a playmobil castle. It had horses in, that was good. Mummy sat and played with me too. Then a nurse called us through so we went into another room with her. I took my questions that i had done with mummy.

Mummy and me sat down and spoke about what i would like to ask when we go in to the hospital and this is what i thought of

We got in there and the nurse had to take another swab of my nose, like they did at the doctors a couple of weeks ago. That tickled. Then she had to prick my finger, to get some blood, i was very brave and didn't cry. It was funny watching my blood go into the little pot. After that, she answered some of my questions, she wasn't sure of some answers so the play specialist came in, she had a book to show me. It had pictures in. There was pictures of the ward, the beds, the room where i will have my operation, the room where i go after my operation. The play specialist was called Molly, Molly spoke to me about each picture and mummy wasn't sure how much i was taking in as there was lots of information. Then Molly took us to the ward where i'm going to be on Monday. I liked looking around it. After we had finished there, we went back to the day care ward and the doctor was there. He had to listen to my lungs and heart and then asked me a couple of questions, well mummy really. He wasn't expecting my questions, mummy asked him the first one, how they are going to do it, she explained that i have been asking that one lots and mummy hasn't been sure how to explain and thought he would be able to explain in a way that i can understand. He couldnt', mummy didn't even understand what he meant, silly doctor. After that, we went downstairs and had our picnic in the hospital, that was fun. When we were sat there, mummy was talking to me about what had happened this morning, to see if i had understood any of it. Mummy was very proud of me, i had. This is what i said to her 'i'm going to have magic cream on my hand, then a butterfly straw put in my hand where the sleepy medicine goes. Then when we go to the room for my operation, they are going to put the sleepy medicine in' After we had had our picnic, we still had an hour until our next appointment, and we had already been sat for nearly an hour eating our picnic (the first appointment finished earlier than mummy thought it would) So we went up to the ENT part and i played in the playroom bit until we were called, it was ages. Mummy thought i was quite happy playing until i turned round to her and said 'its just boring waiting isn't it mummy' then mummy came and done some colouring with me. Finally we were called. A lady took us to one of the special rooms where there are two doors, it goes really quiet in there. I had some special headphones on and then we played a game, i had to put an animal in the box every time i heard a noise. After that, the lady told us we could go back to the waiting room. We were called to go and see Miss Lennox then. When we got in there, she looked in my ears she told mummy that i had glue in one of them and that my hearing test had come back as quite low in both ears. She explained to mummy about the scars i have in my ear drums from the first set of grommets i had, that there is a pocket of scar tissue near one of them and she doesn't want to put grommets in just because i'm having an operation on monday, she would like to wait and see if my hearing will get better by itself. Then we had to go back to the waiting room and the same lady who done my hearing test came and found us, she took us to a different room and had to take moulds of both of my ears. 

First she had to put small pieces of cotton wool in my ears, that had a bit of thread attached (you can see the thread in the picture above) and then she squirted the mould stuff in, it filled my ear and felt funny. I couldnt' hear anything when she done that. There was some spare so she squirted it in my hand so i could mould it into a ball, i liked doing that, although it made my hand smell, i didn't like that bit. When it had gone a bit hard in my ears, she pulled it out and you could see the shape of my ears, that was good seeing that. I told her that i would like a pink hearing aid. Then we were allowed to go home, we had been there all day. 
We walked to headington, well i scooted and mummy walked, i kept telling mummy that one of my legs wanted ice poles because it kept making me go fast. When we went to the shop, we found 3 different types of ice poles, that was good. When we got home, we relaxed and i had an early night as i was so tired.

Tuesday 12th April 2011

i took my scooter again today. we walked all the way to cowley centre and i didn't moan once. Mummy had a meeting and then when that was finished she asked what i would like to do. I told her i wanted to go into town and find a film. So we got a bus, i had to put my scooter down to get on the bus. When we got to town, mummy put it back up again and i scooted through town. Mummy told me that i had to be carefull (town was busy busy) we went to the shop and i found a film for me, its called spirit and mummy found one for her and tom to watch too. Then we went to tesco in town and found some chocolate for me, some fruit and chocolate for Tom and then we went to see him as he is at work. The path leading to his work was good because there were hardly any people there. Tom was waiting outside his work, i beat mummy there. She showed him my DVD and Tom said it was a good DVD to watch on sunday when he's at work. Mummy told him we were going to watch it today, he smiled and said good. (mummy's not really looking forward to watching it either) then it was time to go, so we said bye to Tom and i raced off. I was a bit more careful going through where all the people were though. On the way home i had a bar of chocolate and then i asked mummy if i could have one of the chocolate cakes we had bought, mummy said no so i said 'i'm not going to talk to you ever again' i was talking to her within about 2 minutes though. At home i asked mummy if i could do some painting, she said yes. So i tidied up and then got my paints out. I got paint on the cats scratching post, oooops. and all over the floor and my hands, and the table. After i had finished painting i got my playdough out. i made sure i was sat in the sunshine in the living room as its nice and sunny outside today. When i tidied my playdough up, with some help as i had got it everywhere, mummy made me something to eat and then we sat down and watched my new film.
Mummy thought this page was done, but she had to come on and add something as i made her laugh lots later on. 
I had a bath after the film and while mummy was doing my hair, i was talking to her about when i grow up that i'm going to buy a kitten from a petshop, mummy told me that you can't buy cats from petshops anymore, that you used to be able to when she was little. I looked at mummy and said 'but where was i when you were little, i was just in space wasn't i, i know i was because i had a helmet' and then from that conversation i started talking about when people get old and die, i said 'when my nanny gets old, she'll be dead and off this world, then she will be in the ground, we'll have to visit her to see her name. Then mummy, when you get dead, i'll come and visit you to make sure you're ok' This made mummy laugh lots and lots

Monday 11th April 2011

Today Tom didn't have to go to work till later, so we had the whole day. We went to the shop at the end of the road, i took my scooter. i liked taking my scooter. I tried carrying it in the shop, but mummy had to take it away in the end as i nearly knocked things off. Then when we got home, mummy and Tom had some breakfast. Tom went and played with a game on his playstation in the bedroom and me and mummy stayed in the living room. I sat cuddling up to mummy when she was doing things on the computer. We had a lazy day today and stayed at home all day really

Sunday 10th April 2011

When we got up today, mummy told me that we were going to tesco, i moaned, but then she said she is going to pull me in the trolley, that made me smile lots. We left at the same time as Tom and he went to the bus stop and we walked to cowley centre. On the way there i didn't stop talking all the way, then when we got there i had to get out for some of the way around tesco as we had quite a bit of shopping to do. Then when we had finished, mummy told me that i would need to walk back, i wasn't happy about that at all. I cried, i shouted, i cried some more. Then suddenly i forgot about that and started walking like a robot, an alien, a zombie, a giant and a soldier walk. I had my hands out in front of me for all of them and said 'i am a robot, or i am an alien' mummy thought it was funny because they all sounded like a robot voice.

Saturday 9th April 2011

When Mummy picked me up from Nana's today i had already done hoovering, mopping, cleaning and tidying. i had a busy morning there. I chose a horse for the grand national too. We went to cowley centre with Nana and uncle Alex and looked round some shops. We bought some ice poles and then it was time go to home. At home i wanted to eat an ice pole now, but they weren't frozen. I had one anyway hehe. When Tom went to work, me and mummy watched 'marley and me' together. mummy cried hehe. It was sad. I liked that film. Then it was time for bed. I had to have an eye patch again tonight, mummy made it out of a sanitary towel again because my eye was gunky :-(

Friday 8th April 2011

Today is my last day of term, i can't wait until the end of school because Tom is picking me up. When Tom came and got me, he took me to have ice-cream, i had white ice-cream. Then we went home and we played guess who, i beat Tom 3 times!! I really liked having Tom look after me and pick me up from school. It was lots of fun. Then not long after Mummy arrived at home, Nana arrived too, because i'm staying at Nana's tonight. I had already got my stuff ready with Tom

Thursday 7th April 2011

When i woke up today mummy told me that i have a facebook account now. She's set it up for me so that i can tell people about my operation and how i'm feeling. I was really happy about having a facebook account. When we got off of the bus, we were early for school so we went to a cafe and sat down and had a drink. I told mummy what i wanted my first status to be, it was 'i told mummy this morning that i'm feeling happy about getting my mouth fixed because then i can say the sound of 's' and i want to be able to say bus like mummy, not buh' that made mummy nearly cry when i said that. Lots of people have written on my wall on there too, that made me smile. Although on the way home i did ask mummy why its called my wall because its not a wall and that it should just be called facebook. I wrote on lots of peoples walls too, i like doing that. My status when i got home from school was 'i did eggs at school today and then we painted the eggs, first we boiled them and then we did go outside then when it was hometime first we did we went outside and then we had snack outside and went on a bike, thats what i did at school, and i did do something else like playing the hairdressers' Tom wrote on my wall, he wrote that he loved me, that made me say awwww and i had to give him a cuddle.

Monday 4th April 2011

Mummy made me funny dinner today. When she put it on the table, it had sausage for a mouth, carrots for a nose, mash potato for eyes and brocoli for eyebrows. It was funny. I liked my dinner like that. Just before we started eating, i remembered that i needed to turn the tv off, mummy was very impressed that i had told her when she had forgotten. I ate nearly all of my dinner. I used the small yorkshire puddings that mummy had made for cheeks on my face and then i poured gravy all over my plate and told mummy that my face had a brown face.
After dinner i had a bath. Mummy used my new comb, one that looks for headlice, i don't have any :D
Then mummy dried my hair and done 4 french plaits in it. I played games on her phone when she was doing that. I sat really well almost all the way to the end of this hehe

Mummy picked me up from Nanny's house today and i gave her a necklace that i had made for her, for mothers day. On the way home, mummy told me that the skates that her and Tom had bought me were at home. I was really excited. When we got home, i tried them on straight away, i really like them. I told mummy that we just need Tom to get some now and then we can all go out. I ran in to my room and got the bag of things that Tom had given me to give to mummy today (he got me to write my name in a card yesterday) i gave it to mummy and she was really happy. It made her cry a little bit. Tom had bought her a necklace for me to give to her, she really liked it. Then it was time to leave. we were meeting Nana at the donnington bridge social club, as mummy needed to give her a present for mothers day too. We went to town first, i got 4 badges. Because i want to start collecting something, Tom had the good idea to collect badges (i did want stones at first hehe) i chose 4 pussy cat ones. They are really cute. Then we went to a bookshop and i chose a book mark, like hers and Toms. I chose the miss chatterbox one. I liked that one.
Then it was time to go and get the bus. When we got there, mummy gave Nana her present and card. Nana gave me an easter egg, it had a butterfly on it. And she gave mummy a box of chocolates, she said it was from me hehe. We had to wait AGES for our food (2 and half hours) i was so hungry that i ate it all up!! Lots of potato and 2 sausages. Mummy was so pleased with me.
When we got home, Tom was there. I had taken my chocolate cake and custard home with us, as we had to wait so long, it had got quite late. I sat and ate that and then it was bedtime already.

I had to go and see Lucy today (speach therapist) Mummy and Lucy talked at first and Lucy had to phone someone called Miss Lennox, who is the head audiologist. She spoke to her secretary, because mummy had just told Lucy that my hearing has been getting a little worse recently. And that they were supposed to get in touch with us after my 5 year review but never did. I have an appointment with Miss Lennox on Wednesday 13th April, after my pre-assessment. Lucy and mummy were talking and Lucy said she will support the decision of grommets being put in my ears again.
After this, i chose a game and we played some games, i done lots of talking. Lucy told mummy that my school have said i've reached my targets that she had set, but she can hear that i haven't. She didn't seem very happy with my school, either is mummy. I done really well at blending my words, my 's' words. Like 'house, mouse, bus etc' i found it easier if i used a finger and drew a line when i was saying it, it made it smooth instead of 'hou' 'sssss' because that sounds like two seperate words when i do that. Lucy and mummy were really pleased with me. Mummy was asking Lucy if after my operation, will i still need to 'learn' how to say these things, she said yes i would.
When we got to school, mummy told Jules (my teacher) all about my visit.

Thursday 31st March 2011

Mummy picked me up from school early today, before everyone else (a few minutes early) because i had to go to the doctors. Mummy told me that the nurse would be putting a cotton bud up my nose and in my mouth to get a swab for when i get my mouth fixed. When we got there, i played for a bit because the nurse wasn't quite ready. When we went in, she got a long cotton bud out of a pack and put it in my mouth, right to the back of my mouth, she was very surprised that i didn't gag when she done it. Then she got another one and put that up my nose. I got a sticker for being so good.
We then went to meet Fiona, mummy's friend. We had to go back to where my school is because thats where we were meeting her. We went to somewhere called Atomicburgers, it was yummy. I had a hotdog and chips, the hotdog was huge!! and i ate nearly all of it. I ate just under half of my chips too. Mummy was very pleased with me. When we finished, we went to Tesco and bought some ice-cream for me to eat at home. We went out the back way and i showed Fiona where my school is, then she got in her car and drove home. We went and got a bus and went home. I was quite tired.
